Today is my father in law’s birthday. We saw him at the weekend, but it was only after he left that I realised he’d gone empty handed.
There had been chat all week about ‘making Granddad a card’, and I was certain that I had something stashed away for him in my present cupboard, but I didn’t. I was freaking out to be honest, because I knew I didn’t have any spare time to go out shopping, and the clock was ticking as he and my mother in law were going away for his birthday.
Then I remembered that the lovely folks at Amazon had gifted me a voucher to give their new Prime Now service a test run.
I can’t imagine that I have any readers who aren’t familiar with using Amazon, and I’m sure those among us with a Prime membership will feel similar to me about it. You get used to one day (sometimes same day) delivery pretty quickly, and I’ve often wondered how on earth I lived without it for so long. It’s hard not to be disappointed when other online services take days or even a week to deliver.
Prime Now sees you getting your order within a two hour time slot (sometimes one hour), and could not be easier to use. All you have to do is download the Prime Now app, browse for your items, add what you want to your basket, and checkout. Exactly as you would with a regular Amazon order.
A few things worth considering
– Prime Now is currently operating in limited post codes, so check to see if your area is eligible before getting excited. It’s also worth bearing in mind that they do not carry the full range as the main Amazon site.
– the first time you check out an order on the new app, you will need to enter the credit/debit card linked to your Amazon account for security reasons, so make sure you have it handy.
– minimum order value is £20, and a tip for the driver will be automatically added, but can be removed in the click of a button. I personally think this is a lovely touch.
Overall, I was exceptionally happy with my shopping experience (that’s an understatement: I though it was frickin’ awesome!) I placed my order at 9:29am and was given the option to chose any two hour time slot throughout the day. I selected 10am-12pm and my order was delivered (with a smile) at 10:34am. You really cannot say fairer than that.
Needless to say, I will definitely be back!
Big thanks to Amazon, and a very happy birthday to Colin! Hope you like your pressies.
