Latest Charity Shop Bargains

Taking responsibility

The other day whilst heading back from a friends house, I found myself caught in the worst of the rain. It was too late for a coffee, so I took shelter in my favourite charity shop. If there is one thing guaranteed to cheer me up on a cold, wet and miserable day, it’s a bit of retail therapy.

My version is guilt and conscience free too as I rarely spend more than £10. Plus I get that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing that I’ve (a) helped a charity and (b) helped the environment. What’s not to like?

Out of necessity years before it became trendy to do so, I started shopping in charity shops. I had no money at all but still needed essential items, so would scour the limited secondhand shops back then and make do as best I could.

These days we have an abundance of choice – on my tiny local high street we have an Oxfam, Cancer Research & St. Raphael’s Hospice. Nowadays almost all of my clothes are sourced in these shops, or via good old eBay. I absolutely love a bargain, and take great (too much perhaps?) delight in picking things up on sale rails for £1 or £2. I was really chuffed with my haul this week, and just had to blog about it! Here’s what I found and how much I spent:

Gorgeous Mamas & Papas maternity blouse £4
Next shirt with tank top attached £1.50
3 Ladybird classic books 90p
Boys romper suit 40p
Total – £6.50

  2. I’m a charity shop addict! I cannot go past one without going in. You got some great bits there. Thank you for joining in with #ThriftyThursday 🙂

  3. I’m not great with charity shops – had to spend too much time in them as a child with my thrifty mum. However, I have started looking for children’s books for 50p rather than £5! Those clothes look great, though.
