Fun Times at Brockwell Park

I’ve mentioned recently the fabulous farmers market we go to most Sunday’s. It’s located by Herne Hill train stationย justย a stones throw from beautiful Brockwell Park. The kids playpark didn’t used to be very good, but a couple of years ago Lambeth Council invested both the research time, and the money to give it a worthwhile overhaul.

A photo collage knocked up on my barely functioning iPhone could never do it justice, but the new and improved area is nothing short of amazing. Constructed out of wood and natural resources, the equipment caters for all ages from toddlers to teens. There’s a big sandpit, and a smaller one. Ditto climbing frames with wobbly bridges. A climbing wall, tunnels, individual swings, large group ones, and loads more.

The location serves as a perfect halfway house for various friends, so on a decent day this is often our first choice of meeting place. We get all the kids together, take a picnic for lunch and hang out for hours. It can be a tad disconcerting when the kids run off in different directions, but it’s a safe place for them to be. My only gripe is that the toilets can get really grubby, so if you venture here make sure you take plenty of baby wipes and toilet roll with you.

My girls love this place, and it fits so well with our trips to get supplies from the market. If only all play parks were as great as this one!

  1. Go Lambeth Council, they listened and gave the people what they wanted and needed! Doesn’t happen very often but when it does, it’s a wonderful thing.

  2. Looks like a lovely place hon. So nice to have a lovely playground to take the munchkins and even better if it is on route to the market ๐Ÿ™‚ #sharewithme

  3. Lovely you have a in between place to meet and have fun at. Can’t beat a good park for sure. Wish the weather would get better again as my two love the park and we are lucky to live by so many walking distance. Sounds amazing that it’s close to everything too. Thanks for linking up to Share With Me Hope you get to do more park hopping this week #sharewithme

  4. One of my favourite parks! We are a short bus hop away, so go there often. I love The Florence pub just outside, and the cafe in the park itself… We should meet up there sometime! ๐Ÿ™‚
    Love Bumps & Grind x

  5. Looks like such a nice park. I love finding a good park for the children. We have a few around the corner, but none with toilets (probably better not to have toilets than to have really grubby ones actually!). x Mel #SharewithMe

  6. Looks great, playgrounds have come such a long way since I was a kid! #letkidsbekids

  7. I’m glad to hear of a council doing something well and it having such a positive effect on the community. ย It looks bright and inviting.
