I’ve mentioned recently the fabulous farmers market we go to most Sunday’s. It’s located by Herne Hill train station just a stones throw from beautiful Brockwell Park. The kids playpark didn’t used to be very good, but a couple of years ago Lambeth Council invested both the research time, and the money to give it a worthwhile overhaul.
A photo collage knocked up on my barely functioning iPhone could never do it justice, but the new and improved area is nothing short of amazing. Constructed out of wood and natural resources, the equipment caters for all ages from toddlers to teens. There’s a big sandpit, and a smaller one. Ditto climbing frames with wobbly bridges. A climbing wall, tunnels, individual swings, large group ones, and loads more.
The location serves as a perfect halfway house for various friends, so on a decent day this is often our first choice of meeting place. We get all the kids together, take a picnic for lunch and hang out for hours. It can be a tad disconcerting when the kids run off in different directions, but it’s a safe place for them to be. My only gripe is that the toilets can get really grubby, so if you venture here make sure you take plenty of baby wipes and toilet roll with you.
My girls love this place, and it fits so well with our trips to get supplies from the market. If only all play parks were as great as this one!
